Meet the Buckeye DockDogs Officers!

President Shaun Vahl with his wife Randi are charter members of Buckeye DockDogs. Although Randi does 100% of the dog handling in the family, Shaun never misses an event; he is always there announcing the show. So when you are at an event say “hello” and tell him a little about yourself so he can make your dock experience a little more personal and fun. “Let's make a mad dash for a big splash!” E-mail Shaun.
Vice President Jim Zelasko, and his wife Jennifer joined Buckeye DockDogs in 2007. They enjoy traveling to events all over the country jumping both of their Labs, Cammie and Hallie. When Jim’s not on the dock at an event, you can usually find him around the pool holding some sort of camera. When he’s not at an event, he could be home working on a new dog-elated video or Jim and his wife might be transporting rescue dogs, which is something new that they started doing.
Treasurer Traci Butler and husband Dale have 3 Chocolate Labs. Cancer survivor and now Veteran Ranger started competing in 2006 and has won many events as well as being on the Outdoor Channel and Time Warner Cable. Willow began jumping in 2007 and is a novice DockDog. Colton is a 2010 pup from Ranger and Willow and started in 2011. The Butlers, including including their daughter Youth Handler Miranda, have a small farm with beef cattle and a 31 year old horse and enjoy boating, fishing, jet skiing, 4-wheeling, and camping with their dogs.
Club secretary Linda Torson and husband Tim joined Buckeye DockDogs in 2007 as they knew their Chocolate Lab, Bosco, showed a real propensity for jumping. Now Bosco and Linda are totally hooked and have introduced their Chocolate Lab rescue, Duncan, to the sport. When not at a DockDogs event, Bosco and Linda compete in agility trials. Just retired from the Akron Beacon Journal, Linda is looking forward to new challenges and campaigning Bosco more heavily in both DockDogs and agility and contributing more to the greatest DockDog club in the world, Buckeye DockDogs.
Board Member Matt Bohn and his family joined DockDogs in September 2009, and have competed with their dogs, Bella and Flyer, in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Iowa, and Georgia. A hunter, bowler, weight lifter, cycler and motorcycle enthusiast, Matt is the G.M. of his family’s auto repair facility in Beavercreek, a member of The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Ohio and the Beavercreek Rotary, and volunteers with his family at the Mid-Atlantic German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue.
Board Member Jessica Faris has been a member of Buckeye DockDogs since 2008 when she began jumping with her cocker spaniel, Oreo. She now has a cocker spaniel, Toby, and a chocolate labrador retriever, Duke, who both enjoy dock jumping! She also has another cocker spaniel, Max, who enjoys therapy work. When not on the dock, Jessica enjoys other activities with her dogs such as agility, flyball, rally and therapy work. She is also a special education teacher in an elementary school.
Since joining Buckeye DockDogs in 2008, Ginny Haas, along with her son Aaron, have hit Virginia Beach, Cleveland, Frankenmuth and numerous other towns and cities dockdogging it with Aaron jumping his two dogs Reese and Cocoa. Both love getting together with club friends to watch the dogs have fun, jump big and get wet, whether it be at events, demos, or the local pond. They promote Buckeye DockDogs by holding Let’s Try DockDogs! demonstrations in southeast Ohio, as well as WoofFest in Parkersburg, WV.
Annette Piechowski and her Black Lab, Lacey, joined Buckeye DockDogs in 2007 just to have fun together. When they aren't on the dock competing in Big Air, Annette and Lacey also compete in Agility and love to take long walks in the Cleveland Metroparks with friends. Along with being a Board Member, Annette is a Registered Nurse at Fairview Hospital and volunteers at The Medina Raptor Center and the Cleveland Metroparks monitoring raptor nests for the park. She is also an avid nature photographer.
Board Member Pat Ramunno joined Buckeye DockDogs in 2007. She and husband Joe live in Jackson Township with daughter Christine and two Golden Retrievers, non-jumping Duchess and Buster, her “jumping clown.” Along with working as a registered dental hygienist at Parma Ridge Family Dental, Pat owns Golden Paws Apparel, a small embroidery business. When you see Pat at events, stop by her 10x10 to bark with Buster and chat with Pat, especially about Youth Handlers with which she’s involved.
