Going to the dogs: Woof Fest raises funds for Humane Society

Team Reese from Ironton, Ohio shows West Virginians how Buckeye DockDogs do dock jumping at Woof Fest 2009 at Mountwood Park, one of West Virginia’s largest county parks. Master jumpers Aaron and Reese, along with a friend or two, will demonstrate how to get started in both Big Air and E.V., instruct those who want to learn, and display what to take to an event. Look for the Buckeye DockDogs banner by the dock by the lake.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated as all proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Parkersburg. Minimal fees are charged for certain activities: the Agility Course is $2.00, and Paw Painting is $1.00.

There will also be many contests for dogs:
Best tail wagger – 9:30 am & 1:30 pm
Smallest & Largest dogs – 10:30 am & 2:30 pm
Dress up your dog and Dog/owner look-a-like 11:30 am and 3:30 pm
Best Trick 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm

Throughtout the day, Woof Fest also features demonstrations by The West Virginnia Search and Rescue Dogs, Parkersburg K-9 Police and Parkersburg Obedience Club, food by Rubin’s Deli, pictures by Kathy Freed, raffles, door prizes and many dog vendors. Download Woof Fest flyer here.

Dogs must be well-behaved and leashed, and owners are expected to clean up after their pets.
