Team Zeus, Team Bacon Bits and Team Beast — members of the Bacon family, Steve and Zeus, Abbey and Thor, Taylor and Cocoa — will show how they succeed in Big Air as part of Stark Parks annual free aquatic festival, Summer Splash, at Walborn Reservoir. Club members can join in the jumping or staffing the booth with Cindy Bacon and Traci Butler by e-mailing Steve.

Summer Splash also features free canoeing and kayaking on the 651-acre lake starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. with a break from noon – 1 p.m. for demonstrations by Buckeye DockDogs and the Division of Watercraft of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Stark Parks will provide the boats, personal floatation devices, instruction, and a safety talk. Pontoon boat rides will be available every half hour.

Walborn Reservoir is home to a variety of birds and water fowl including two eaglets. Maps will be provided so guests can drive to a viewing area where spotting scopes will be set up from noon – 3 p.m. Park naturalists will lead hikes through the woods and along the shoreline every half hour from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Park district will provide free worms for fishing, with poles available for loan. Fishing techniques and tips will be provided by the Berkley Fishing Team, a group of 15 professional fishermen. ODNR will have a boating safety display “from bow to stern,” including licensing requirements and safety gear.

For the hungry, the Walborn Marina will offer a special “meal deal” — a hot dog, chips and beverage for only $2.25. Other snack foods will also be available for purchase, and guest can enjoy their meal under a new picnic shelter.
